Project Name: St Bernards Village
Location: Alpine Terrace, Mount Tamborine
Client: St Bernards Village Pty Ltd
Project Type: Commercial/Tourist Redevelopment

St Bernards Hotel is one of Tamborine Mountain's most well known and historic properties. The vision for the project is to provide lodge-style accommodation to replace the old hotel rooms and return the building and site to its past grandeur and prominence. The proposal to develop the St Bernards site includes Hotel Lodges, an extension to the Mt Tamborine Motel and Tourist Oriented shops in conjunction with extensive landscaping which compliments the existing rainforest experience.

Mortons - Urban Solutions were engaged by St Bernards Village Pty Ltd in 2004 to undertake Town Planning, Civil Engineering and Project Coordination services for the proposed redevelopment. Extensive and lengthy negotiations with the former Beaudesert Shire Council and now Scenic Rim Regional Council resulted in the approval of the redevelopment in 2008 (for the establishment of 20 lodges (30 units) and extensions to the Hotel and Motel).

Mortons - Urban Solutions in conjunction with St Bernards Village Pty Ltd held a Public Information Day in mid 2009 in order to inform the community of the development and its various components. The form of development results in a sympathetic outcome which respects the natural values of Tamborine Mountain. Clearing of existing vegetation will be minimal and the proposed cabins will be raised above natural ground level to minimise the required earthworks. Additional commercial development which forms part of the project is the subject of current consideration by council.
