The Town Planners and Engineers at MUS Gold Coast worked on an exciting new tourist project located at 3088 Surfers Paradise Boulevarde, Surfers Paradise. It is an indoor skydiving facility that will provide patrons of all ages with the feeling of flying without having to jump from a plane. The facility was purpose built in the tourist precinct of Surfers Paradise adjacent to the Gold Coast Light Rail and a couple of hundred metres from Cavill Avenue Mall and Q1 Tower. The 3 storey building including a wind tunnel that is powered by 2 x 450hp fans is a landmark facility in Surfers Paradise having replaced a car yard and renovating an existing 2 storey commercial building.
MUS were engaged by ISA Group Ltd to prepare the Development Application and worked with DBI Architects to develop the plans for the facility. MUS were required to negotiate a number of complex issues with Gold Coast City Council, Gold Coast Water and the Department of Transport and Main Roads particularly relating to car parking, sewer and proximity to the light rail infrastructure. Approval was achieved in late August 2014, and this was quickly followed by Engineering Approvals to relocate a sewer to allow construction to commence. The facility is a high-quality addition to the tourist attractions located in Surfers Paradise.
